Synthetic Bowling Greens

SUPERGRASSE PROMASTER - SYNTHETIC BOWLING SURFACE

Promaster is the world's leading synthetic surface for bowls. The surface is manufactured using polypropylene yarn, to the manufacturer's exclusive micro-curl specification. This specification was developed well over ten years ago, and Promaster has been used on more greens around the world than any other artificial grass bowls surface. It still provides the ideal surface for bowls, giving a natural bias and enabling play in all directions. This last point is further enhanced by laying the carpet diagonally.

Promaster 'Cushion' is the product that most suits the British environment, as it provides a draw and speeds which will overlap those of natural greens. The integrated foam rubber backing allows a softer feel underfoot. With normal maintenance, these greens should play at between 13.5-14.5 seconds.

The base construction will generally be at least 200 mm thick and finished with a porous macadam top. The final layers are laid using laser-controlled machinery to meet World Bowls Board requirements.

Ditches are formed using pre-cast concrete units and they are faced with Promaster Cushion laid over an angled wooden striking board. This gives a visually pleasing finish and offers a high level of protection for the bowls.

We would recommend the installation of an automatic watering system at the same time as the green is laid and our standard package normally includes a 1.2 m wide surrounding paved path.

Maintenance is needed to ensure that the surface performs to its optimum levels for the maximum number of years. This will involve little more than brushing, using recommended equipment, and it will not exceed one hour a week during the main playing season.

We would expect the carpet to last for between 10 and 15 years, after which time the carpet alone my need to be replaced. This lifespan will be affected by maintenance and we recommend the use of a powered brush once or twice each month, with a vertical-bristle brush used once weekly during the busy periods. Some provision should be made to have the surface professionally cleaned every two or three years. This will keep the pile even textured and free from pollutants.

Promaster can be played on 24 hours a day, seven days a week which should enable a club to generate more income. We know that other products are available, but if there was a better way to produce a bowling surface, our suppliers would be doing it.

Promaster is a tried and tested surface and there is no need to risk the future of your club with anything other than a reliable and successful surface.

Promaster has World Bowls Board Approval using our greens.
